Breathtaking and incredibly rare 1870s Victorian Mourning pin featuring a lovely inner section of cross-hatched hair surrounded by stunning chalcedony and a 9K gold frame. The chalcedony on this is particularly remarkable -- it could almost pass as moonstone with a subtle flash and no major occlusions. The beautifully ornate frame has a Georgian feel and adds such presence to this piece. What a stunner! C-clasp at back with attached safety chain. Eligible for layaway, please contact me for more details.
CONDITION: Excellent antique condition. There's light wear to the glass over the hair, as well as two prongs missing where the gold frame meets the chalcedony, but it's not super noticeable. The safety chain appears to be a later addition and is a touch warmer than the rest of the gold. Stunning piece! Please keep in mind this is an antique item, which means minor signs of wear are to be expected. Any significant flaws are always noted in the description. All garments are mended, cleaned and ready to wear unless otherwise noted.
COLOR: Gold with light brown hair and clearish-white chalcedony
MORE INFORMATION: No hallmarks. Tests as 9 carats and appears to be made of chalcedony and hair.
