RETURNS  POLICY

Unfortunately, due to the time it takes to hand-pick each item, as well as the delicacy of vintage garments, Black Cat Clothiers cannot currently accept returns or exchanges due to anything other than an error in describing the item.

If your garment arrived and you discovered a significant flaw not mentioned in the description (like a tear, stain, ripped seam, etc), we apologize! We pore over our garments to make sure we're giving you the best description possible, but we're still human, and mistakes happen. Please email us at blackcatclothiers@gmail.com and we will be happy to refund you. Please be aware that the garment must be returned in original condition to receive refund.

It's also important to remember that vintage clothing is delicate. Though we never want a garment to arrive with a big flaw you weren't expecting or do something crazy like disintegrate into dust the moment you touch it, once the garment is out of our care, we can't be held responsible for any damages that incur due to wear, cleaning, etc. That said, we're happy to personally advise you on the best ways to care for your new piece. Just drop us a line at blackcatclothiers@gmail.com.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your garments are old. Does that mean they're damaged?
I try to source vintage in the best possible condition. Typically, I look for items that are excellent (mint) to very good (very minor flaws, nothing impacting wear.) However, vintage clothing has been worn and loved by another person already, which means there are often minor signs of wear, like slight pilling, fading, rippling, sticky zippers, etc. I think this is part a garment's charm, though -- it has a history and may even be older than you!

If garments do have flaws, I always describe them in detail and accurately photograph them. Sometimes, I think a garment with flaws is still worth your time because of it's history, designer, or overall quality. Please feel free to inquire further about a garment if you are unsure!

How can I tell if a garment is my size?
Generally, you're going to be six sizes larger in vintage garments than modern ones. That said, vintage isn't always the easiest fit in the world, which means you should pretty much ignore whatever it says on the tag.

Because of this, I make sure to include specific and detailed measurements on each of my garments, as well as an approximation on x-small, small, medium, large or x-large. I recommend you measure a garment you already own that fits you well and compare it to the measurements on the garment you're interested in.

And of course, feel free to inquire with further questions! Making an investment without seeing something in person can be intimidating, so I'm happy to help in whatever way I can.

What if I measure wrong? Can I return a garment if it doesn't fit?
Unfortunately, due to both the time to it takes to hand-pick each of these garments, and the delicacy of vintage clothing, I currently cannot accept returns. I hope this is something I can change in the future.

If you're an East Coaster, I often display my clothing at markets, pop-up shops, etc in the Philadelphia area. Stop by and try some garments on -- then you can always be sure something fits. Check out the "Visit Us" page to see where I'll be next.

That said, I'm here to help. If you're struggling with trying to decide whether something would fit, please message me. I'll help you figure out which garment will be your best fit.

What if I'm unhappy with my order for another reason?
I strive to provide the best, witchiest vintage clothing and the best customer service. Though I do not accept returns, I absolutely want you to be happy with your new garment. If you're not, please contact me immediately and we will work it out -- I promise!

If your garment arrived and it has a significant flaw (tear, stain, etc) that I did not describe, please let me know immediately. I pore over each garment to give you the most accurate description, but I am human and make mistakes! In this case, I am happy to accept your return and provide a full refund. The garment must be returned in its original condition to receive a refund.

I'm purchasing something as a gift. How are your garments packaged?
Though I currently do not offer specific gift-wrapping, each garment comes lovingly wrapped in tissue paper, tied with a black ribbon and sealed with a Black Cat Clothiers sticker. I also include custom garment care cards so you can make your investment last. I think it's a pretty stylish way to receive a gift!

In terms of packaging, generally, orders totaling $48 and under will be shipped in a polymer sleeve. Orders totaling $49 and over will be packaged in a box. Sometimes, due to the fragility of a garment or the size of an item, an order totaling under $48 will still be packaged in a box.

I'm looking for a certain kind of garment, but it's not listed in your shop. Can you still help me?
I am constantly sourcing, which means I often have items that haven't hit my shop yet. If you're craving something in particular, please email me at blackcatclothiers@gmail.com. I'm happy to let you know if I've recently acquired a piece that might do the trick or keep an eye out for you in the future.

Your garments come from all over the place and some are very old. Are they clean?
The short answer is yes. However, most vintage garments can't just be thrown through a washing machine and dryer like modern clothes. That said, I know you want your new vintage piece to feel like it's fresh and new, which is why I launder and care for each garment.

That means different things dependent on each garment and its delicacy. At the least, that means the garment has been cleaned with Woolite At-Home Dry Cleaner and steamed. At the most, that means the garment has gone in the washing machine on delicate cycle and then hung to dry. Your garments will always arrive to you carefully laundered and cared for, just keep in mind the method is different for each piece! Feel free to inquire further about specific garments if necessary.

I love your style, but a good amount of your clothing is so tiny. What gives?!
Trust me, I hear you! Unfortunately, body types were pretty different back then, and it's evident in the clothes. Off-the-rack clothes only went up to certain sizes and some designers were snotty about what size they would make clothing in. Also, I'm at the mercy of what I can find. There is no infinite supply of vintage clothing (though it would be really fun it there were!)

That said, I make an effort to source clothing in ALL shapes and sizes. I also keep a list on what range of sizes I have in my inventory, and when I notice that's getting a little skewed, I do my best to make up for it. I believe vintage clothing is for everyone and I hope my shop reflects that.
