Utterly bewitching and incredibly rare late 1800s Victorian velvet devore mantle capelet featuring a lush floral pattern, plush chenille fringe and peaked shoulders. An amazing piece perfect for a serious collector or for a strange soul's evening at the ball. Fully lined in silk, hook & eye closure up the front. Eligible for layaway, please contact me for more details!

MEASUREMENTS:
(taken with garment lying flat; bust doubled for your convenience)
→shoulder to shoulder: 14.5 inches
→bust: 32 inches
→length: 25 inches (at front)

ESTIMATED SIZE: X-Small to maybe a smaller Medium; the shoulder measurement is narrow and that's the most important here. The bust size seems small, but keep in mind it's open on the sides nearly to the bust. That said, I'd feel most comfortable recommending this to a petite small with a smaller bust.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition -- wearable and sturdy, but with some flaws to note. There's lightening from age to the banded edges around the seams, as well as on the thread construction of the chenille fringe. Some areas of the fringe have worn away, probably from bad storage, but it all seems mostly sturdy now. There's one area of stress and shedding to the lining, near the right arm -- it looks bad, but it's not reactive to touch or wear and is not worsening with handling. Lastly, there was an interior waistband strap, a common feature of these garments, but the elastic was completely shot , so I removed it. Gorgeous and rare piece in wearable condition! Please keep in mind this is a vintage garment, which means minor signs of wear are to be expected. Any significant flaws are always noted in the description. All garments are mended, cleaned and ready to wear unless otherwise noted.

COLOR: Black

MORE INFORMATION: No maker or contents labels. Appears to be made of silk and chenille.

PLEASE NOTE: Black Cat Clothiers only accepts returns if a mistake was made in describing the garment, for which we ask you to contact us within 3 days of receiving the garment. Please be aware all monitors display colors differently. Additionally, all of our clothing is pre-owned and vintage/antique, which means each piece may feature minor signs of wear, as noted in the description.
