Absolutely stunning and unusual Edwardian silk bodice dating to 1900 featuring gorgeous lace inserts, silk cording details, tiered details on the sleeves and fashionable button accents on the front. This lovely bodice comes with a wonderful piece of provenance: a note attached that reads "waist of my dress worn at wedding 1900 - EE." A wonderful addition to any collection! Hook & eye closures at front and on sleeves. Eligible for layaway, please contact me for more details!
MEASUREMENTS: (taken with garment lying flat; bust, waist & hips doubled for your convenience) →collar: 14 inches around →shoulder to shoulder: 15 inches →bust: 38 inches →waist: 35 inches →length: 16 inches →sleeve length: 23 inches
ESTIMATED SIZE: Medium-Large
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. There's some shattering to the silk backing on the lace, but it's not falling apart to the touch. There's also some staining to the front lace insert. This is a stunningly gorgeous piece in an unusual colourway despite these flaws. The silk outer and main cotton lining are very sturdy, but I do think this piece is best for a collector or very light wear. Please keep in mind this is a vintage garment, which means minor signs of wear are to be expected. Any significant flaws are always noted in the description. All garments are mended, cleaned and ready to wear unless otherwise noted.
COLOR: Rich blue, almost an indigo, with gray lace
MORE INFORMATION: By Snook Philadelphia. Appears to be made of silk and cotton.
PLEASE NOTE: Black Cat Clothiers only accepts returns if a mistake was made in describing the garment, for which we ask you to contact us within 3 days of receiving the garment. Please compare the detailed measurements noted above to one of your garments (not your body measurements; clothing should allow room for movement) that fits you well. Please be aware all monitors display colors differently. Additionally, all of our clothing is pre-owned and vintage/antique, which means each piece may feature minor signs of wear, as noted in the description. To learn more, please view our store policies.
