Absolutely fantastic 1910s Edwardian wool felt skirt in a stunning and unusual hunter green featuring delightful fold-over details and tons of buttons. Though this piece has a number of cosmetic flaws, it was just too wonderful to pass up -- how amazing is this style? I've never seen anything like it and am so excited to offer it in my shop. Unlined but opaque, hook & eye + snap closures at side waist.
MEASUREMENTS: (taken with garment lying flat; waist & hips doubled for your convenience) →waist: 30 inches →hips: 46 inches →length: 38 inches
ESTIMATED SIZE: Medium; there's also a good hem that would give you at least an inch if you'd need it longer. I think this skirt would look great anywhere from a floor-gazing length to a tea length.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. This skirt is extremely sturdy and ready to wear, but does have a number of cosmetic flaws. There are moth holes throughout this piece. I've repaired three that are right at the front of the skirt. These were large, ragged bites, made worse by the thick fiber of the wool, so I opted for the "sew-in-the-circle" technique as I'm not proficient at invisible mending. These mends are absolutely noticeable; could be covered with embroidery, but considering the other flaws, I didn't think it was a big deal. As a note, I did do them with very fine black thread, not green -- I could not find a good match and the black surprisingly was less visible after a few test stitches than any shades of green. There's also overall, ombre fade to the fabric, with the top being the lightest and the bottom the darkest. There's some sun damage as well in the form of bright spots, as pictured. The waistband is just folded over, so it does like to creep up when being worn. I've steamed and pressed it down, but just something to keep in mind -- you may want to add a few stitches if it rides up on you. Too cool of a piece despite its flaws! Please keep in mind this is a vintage garment, which means minor signs of wear are to be expected. Any significant flaws are always noted in the description. All garments are mended, cleaned and ready to wear unless otherwise noted.
