Breathtaking, but sadly as-is, 1930s silk watercolor floral gown with a matching capelet. Featuring beautiful sleeves, cut-outs at the back and flattering hip seams, the gown is just divine. The matching capelet adds drama with a ruffled edge and velvet ribbon. A beautiful candidate for restoration or re-working - I just couldn't leave this one behind. Unlined, completely sheer, no closures, pull-over. I have more photos - please message me to see more!
MEASUREMENTS: (taken with garment lying flat; bust, waist & hips doubled for your convenience)
CAPELET →shoulder to shoulder: 15 inches →length: 15 inches
DRESS →shoulder to shoulder: 14-16 inches →bust: 30-36 inches →waist: up to 34 inches →hips: 46 inches →length: 54.5 inches
ESTIMATED SIZE: Medium-Large
CONDITION: As-is, fair vintage condition with a number of holes and areas that need to be reinforced; please see photos. Most of the issues with the dress start at the lower portion of the skirt, so it may be a good candidate for shortening. There's multiple holes and a stain. The shoulder seams need to be re-sewn. The capelet has holes and weakness at the shoulders. The ribbon on the capelet is pretty dry, and part of one side has torn off and is currently safety-pinned onto the rest of the ribbon. Reinforcing with fuseable interfacing should make this garment wearable; it's beyond my skills as a seamstress and I've love to see someone talented bring it back to life. Please keep in mind this is a vintage garment, which means minor signs of wear are to be expected. Any significant flaws are always noted in the description. All garments are mended, cleaned and ready to wear unless otherwise noted.
COLOR: The photos come across very warm and yellow; in person, it's much cooler and dustier with greens, blues, yellow and a few blush flowers. Much prettier in person!
MORE INFORMATION: No maker or contents labels. Appears to be made of silk chiffon and velvet ribbon.
PLEASE NOTE: Black Cat Clothiers only accepts returns if a mistake was made in describing the garment, for which we ask you to contact us within 3 days of receiving the garment. Please compare the detailed measurements noted above to one of your garments (not your body measurements; clothing should allow room for movement) that fits you well. Please be aware all monitors display colors differently. Additionally, all of our clothing is pre-owned and vintage/antique, which means each piece may feature minor signs of wear, as noted in the description. To learn more, please view our store policies.
