Absolutely ethereal late 1910s Edwardian nightgown crafted from a fine cotton, featuring gorgeous lace inserts, flutter sleeves and a long, sweeping skirt with gussets to create extra movement. An astounding and beautifully created piece! Looks gorgeous worn while haunting your own house or over a slip with a belt and boots. Unlined, sheer, pull-over, no closures.
MEASUREMENTS: (taken with garment lying flat; bust, waist & hips doubled for your convenience) →shoulder to shoulder: 17 inches →bust: 42 inches →waist: 58 inches →hips: 64 inches →length: 56 inches →sleeve length: 15 inches
ESTIMATED SIZE: Medium - X-Large; cut in a lovely trapeze shape and meant to be worn long and flowing. Due to the gussets, there's a chance this was made for maternity wear, and I think this piece would continue to suit a growing belly.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition with a few things to note. Two holes along the right side were patched; this is visible, as pictured, but they're sturdy. The ribbon woven through the lace work is fraying on the ends and has a few holes; I think handled with care, it will be fine, but could also be replaced when it needs to be. Lastly, there's a few light spots of discoloration throughout. Presents beautifully, and those flutter sleeves are so rare! Please keep in mind this is a vintage garment, which means minor signs of wear are to be expected. Any significant flaws are always noted in the description. All garments are mended, cleaned and ready to wear unless otherwise noted.
COLOR: White with yellow ribbon
MORE INFORMATION: No maker or contents labels. Appears homemade and done well. Hand wash.
